Dehumidification Services

Excess moisture in a property can cause timber floors to warp, woodwork to swell or rot, mould to occur and proliferate on walls and ceilings leading to serious structural and internal decor issues. Eliminating excess moisture quickly to prevent further damage, harmful mould growth and odours are essential and at DMS we specialise in dehumidification services of areas affected by excess moisture.

Residual moisture that has become trapped within the structure is becoming more of an issue as thermal insulation and reducing air leakage standards increase. Many building developments dry naturally during the construction period, however, pressure to reduce build times and changing standards for insulation, air loss and lack of natural ventilation means that moisture can become trapped within the concrete floors below the floor finishes, and behind walls in the blockwork.

Without effective drying, these problems can lead to mould, thermal bridging, cold spots and condensation within new developments contributing to Sick Building Syndrome.

At DMS we can provide an effective Drying Solution to these issues before they become a problem.

Latest Technology Dehumidification Equipment to Eliminate Excess Moisture

DMS will formulate a bespoke Drying Plan to suit the problem at hand. Options include a complete trailer-based dehumidification system for larger developments where multiple properties have been affected, to an individual apartment and house drying through the use of small portable dehumidification machines.

Where moisture has become trapped within the insulation below screeded floors, or within the insulation in cavity walls we can make use of Injection Drying techniques to force warm dry air into the insulation below the substrate to dry from below floors and behind walls.

Residual Moisture if left unabated will cause lasting problems as the moisture migrates across the surfaces to the walls leading to Cold Spots, Thermal Bridging, Condensation, and Mould.

The latest drying and dehumidification equipment complete with Remote Monitoring systems ensures that the optimum Drying Solution in terms of costs, disturbance, and time is found.

How we work:

  • Inspection & Survey: Before our team of Surveyors and Engineers commence the dehumidification process we will first identify and assess the cause of the problem. This will generally involve carrying out a detailed ERH (Equilibrium Relative Humidity) Survey whereby in-depth moisture readings are taken across the structure mapping all areas affected as we go and Thermal Imaging.
  • Dehumidification: Trailer-based or portable dehumidifiers are used to extract excess moisture within the structure. Specialist Injection Drying of composite elements of the building fabric such as floating floors, hollow partition walls, etc. can also be carried out.
  • Monitoring: Our technicians monitor the moisture content and using our remote monitoring systems that can control the drying process off-site taking into account real-time moisture, temperature and humidity readings that indicate whether the area is drying, at what rate, and what adjustments, if any, need to be made to expedite the drying process and avoid excessive uncontrolled humidity levels.
  • Complete: Once all areas of moisture, both surface and in-depth have reached equilibrium areas can be signed-off and a Drying Certificate issued.
