Water Damage - Drying, Mitigation and Restoration.

From a simple leaking pipe to storm, flooding and major complex escapes of water, water ingress to a property can be devastating and destructive, causing enormous damage to the building and significant emotional distress to the occupants.

Water damage can degrade furniture, flooring, walls, and ceilings, leading to potential electrical hazards and structural issues caused by the effects of rot and harmful mould. In addition, depending on the source of the leak and the type of water involved, it can create a variety of health hazards, caused by the bacteria, pollutants, and toxins contained in ‘grey’ or ‘black’ water and to avoid causing further damage, prompt and effective action is required. 

Upon arrival, we will carry out a triage assessment of the situation. Our primary focus is to undertake mitigation measures at the very first visit to prevent further deterioration of the building fabric and its contents. This may entail setting up pumps to drain areas where water levels are deep or extraction and sanitization where water levels are shallow.

After mitigation measures have been put into place we will provide a bespoke Drying Solution using the latest dehumidification equipment and a Restoration Follow-up Plan in order to complete the work in the most efficient, timely and cost-effective way.

How we work:

• We perform a Risk Assessment of the property to ascertain the risks to the occupants and anyone entering the premises.
• We carry out an initial site triage survey to asess the extent of the damage, to establish wherever possible the route of ingress of water into the premises.
• Using specialist extraction equipment where required, remove standing water from the floors, carpets, and other affected areas within the property.
• Installation of Dehumidifiers and Drying Equipment to start the drying process and to mitigate the chances of secondary damage occurring. 
• Undertake a detailed moisture survey to ascertain the full extent of water damage into the premises.
• Once areas are clear of any detritus and rubbish, we carry out a programme of full sanitization and environmental cleaning including swab testing, where required.
• Routine return visits to carry out moisture readings and equipment checks to ensure the property is returned to a pre-incident condition. 
• Once satisfied with the drying program equipment is removed from the site, areas are left clean and tidy and a Drying Certificate is issued, ensuring the following trades can begin the reinstatement work unhindered.
• DMS offers full flood damage repair and restoration services, from strip-out and enabling works to reinstatement including plastering, decorating, plumbing and, electrics through to furniture restoration, tiling and, heating.
• We perform checking, inspection and, Cerfication of Electrical Circuits affected by the flood.
